Tips for applications

This section contains useful tips if you are planning to apply to us for a training position or university work placement and want to know what we are particularly looking out for in an application. We shall look forward to receiving your application and wish you every success!

Before putting pen to paper to write your cover letter, gather as much information as possible about the company. You can find out more quickly and easily via the Internet, at training fairs, in company brochures or through personal telephone conversations.

You can “score extra points” in your cover letter by showing you have knowledge about our company. And likewise in a future interview. It also gives you a perfect lead-in for writing your letter of application.

If you would like to apply for a training or study place in our company and you want to know what is important to us when applying, you will find helpful tips here. We look forward to your application and wish you good luck!

Although it is not essential to include a cover sheet in your application, it does however round off the application nicely and, for this reason, it is advisable to include one.
What goes on the cover sheet?
  • Name, address and telephone number of the sender
  • Title of the training course / degree course
  • Photo

The aim of the cover letter is to convince us why you are the right person for a training or study place at our company. The cover letter should consist of a maximum of one DIN A4 sheet.

What should the cover letter contain?

  • Address and telephone number of the sender
  • Address of the company and name of the contact person
  • Place and date
  • Subject line (bold)
  • Personal salutation
  • Signature

Tips:

  • Make sure that the letterhead and cover letter do not inadvertently mention the name from the previously written application to another company
  • The letter should be individually adapted to the industry and profession
  • Do not send a “blind application” – find out the right contact person first, and address them personally in the salutation
  • Mention the telephone call, if you have previously informed yourself by telephone
  • Do not use standardized formulations
  • Formulate positive and future-oriented
  • Avoid flowery and vague statements, but clarify what is important to you and where your strengths lie
  • Back up your statements with practical, comprehensible examples of activities, e.g. “through my work as class representative / school representative / team captain”, “through my many years of membership in a football / handball club”, etc. “I was able to gain experience in these areas and demonstrate my strengths, such as team and communication skills”.
  • Make sure that the cover letter does not contain any typing errors and that there are no stains on the paper

Your CV provides information on your career to date and your skills/educational background. Please write it in table form, with a clear structure.

What should your CV include?

  • Personal information (name, address with telephone number, date and place of birth)
  • School education (e.g. type and date of highest school-leaving qualification, other qualifications)
  • Relevant work experience (e.g. practical training, sideline)
  • Special skills and experience
  • Languages and stays abroad
  • Computer and organisational skills
  • Other skills, memberships in clubs, interests
  • Photo (not absolutely essential; if your cover sheet already has one, you do not need to place a photo here)
  • Current date of issue
  • A signature is not “mandatory”

Tips:

  • Make sure your application is complete
  • Write clearly and concisely
  • Avoid duplicate entries
  • Avoid using different fonts and font sizes
  • Use an easily readable font size

Which certificates can be enclosed?

  • School certificates
  • Practical training certificates
  • Certificates relating to summer jobs
  • Certificates relating to stays abroad, etc.
