After a seven-week audit marathon, the result was clear: trans-o-flex Express, trans-o-flex ThermoMed and trans-o-flex Logistik-Service have successfully passed recertification in accordance with the EU-GDP (European Union’s Good Distribution Practice) standards that are so important for pharmaceutical logistics. Auditors from TÜV Süd also closely examined trans-o-flex ThermoMed Austria and confirmed its renewed certification.

In total, 12 sites each of trans-o-flex Express and trans-o-flex ThermoMed were audited in Germany, as well as the Logistik-Service site in Alzenau. In Austria, all four ThermoMed sites were audited. Each network or independent logistics business unit requires a separate certificate, which is why certification had to be completed four times.

GDP certification is particularly important for trans-o-flex because its core customer base comes from the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors. “Active temperature control plays a key role here,” says Tamara Schulz, Head of Quality Management at trans-o-flex. “The active temperature control we offer nationwide in Germany and Austria – 15 to 25 degrees Celsius with trans-o-flex Express and 2 to 8 degrees Celsius with trans-o-flex ThermoMed – is increasingly becoming the quality standard.” According to Schulz, this is because temperature control is essential to safeguard product quality, and active temperature control is clearly more environmentally friendly than passive temperature-controlled shipping, as it generates less waste and fewer emissions.

trans-o-flex was first GDP-certified in 2010. The current certificates are valid for two years and are available for download in the downloads section of the trans-o-flex website.
