Our training manager: responsible for 26 trainees at 23 years of age

Since June last year, one of the youngest training managers in Germany has been working at the headquarters of the logistics group trans-o-flex in Weinheim. At 23 years old,  she is responsible for supervising all DH students and trainees at the company’s various sites in Weinheim. trans-o-flex created the position this year. “We make targeted investments in our own training in order to get young talents enthusiastic about trans-o-flex, so that we can meet our demand for specialists and managers with people who are familiar with our system with its special solutions and quality requirements,” says Wolfgang P. Albeck, CEO of the logistics group.

Currently, she supervises a total of 26 young men and women in Weinheim who are either completing a three-year apprenticeship or a dual university degree (DH). Ten of them have just started in the current training year. At trans-o-flex they are trained in four directions: Freight forwarding and logistics services clerks, IT specialists for system integration, IT specialists for application development as well as dual studies in the field of business administration in freight forwarding at the Mannheim Cooperative State University.

The training manager herself had first completed an apprenticeship as an office communications clerk and at the same time completed her university entrance qualification at evening classes. She then worked briefly as a personnel administrator before taking up a course of study in International Personnel Management and Organisation at the University of Applied Sciences in Ludwigshafen, where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree. At the same time she has acquired her instructor’s licence. She started at trans-o-flex immediately afterwards.

Her main task is the 360-degree supervision of all trainees and DH students at the Weinheim sites. Specifically, this includes, for example, the recruitment of new trainees, the organisation of and participation in training fairs. She is the contact person for the Chamber of Commerce as well as for schools and universities and one of my objectives is to continuously optimise training and to introduce a “young talent management scheme.”
