Our projects: Commitment to a sustainable future

trans-o-flex is actively committed to sustainability and social engagement. As part of our comprehensive sustainability strategy, we carry out numerous projects and support initiatives that bring about positive change at both a local and global level. Our focus is on projects that strengthen the community and create lasting benefits. We firmly believe that strong communities are the foundation for a sustainable future. For this reason, we are involved in a wide range of projects that promote education, health, social justice and environmental protection. When selecting and implementing our projects, we are guided by the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Tree planting campaigns

As a thank you for participating in the customer survey and for every new customer transaction, we started planting trees in 2021. Our partner in this campaign is the organization click a tree, with whom we planted a total of 1,257 trees in 2021, 1,956 trees in 2022, 2,278 trees in 2023 and 2,066 trees in 2024.

In addition, 92 trees were planted in our small company forest in the Agroforesterie et Boisement project in France in 2023 in cooperation with the tree-nation organization – one for each person our trade fair team spoke to at transport logistic. We also planted 127 trees for the customers attending our 14th Pharmaceutical Logistics Day. Additionally, a total of 2,000 trees were planted for each employee in the company forest with tree-nation in 2023 as a “Christmas present”.

Volunteer days

Working together, having fun and doing good – that’s what the volunteer day of the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region is all about every two years. In the years in which the volunteer day does not take place, independent projects are initiated in cooperation with regional organizations to mark the International Volunteer Day.

In the past, for example, trans-o-flex locations throughout Germany have supported organisations in packing food and hygiene parcels and sorting clothes for people in need, collecting, sorting and distributing food or collecting garbage.

JOBLINGE

JOBLINGE is a non-profit organization that targets disadvantaged young people to help them enter the job market. The aim of the program is not only to prepare them for a dual vocational training program or a job in the primary labor market, but also to create job opportunities and sustainable integration into the labor market and society.

For the first time in 2023, a group of apprenticeship seekers, including supervisors, were invited to take a look at trans-o-flex and get to know the training opportunities we offer. Since then, JOBLINGE action days have been held regularly at trans-o-flex. These days not only allow young people to benefit from exciting insights into our daily business in the logistics industry, but trans-o-flex can also attract new interested parties for internships and apprenticeships every time

Orange Days

In order to raise employees’ awareness of sustainability, the so-called “Orange Days” have been held annually since 2022. As part of this campaign, all employees receive two oranges that have been grown and transported sustainably.

To this end, trans-o-flex has entered into a partnership with the organization CrowdFarming. This involved planting 200 orange trees that can bear up to 10,000 oranges. The organization uses environmentally conscious cultivation techniques, responsible use of water and sustainable packaging. CrowdFarming tries to save on packaging by sending most products in recycled cardboard boxes and does not deliver single portions at all. Moreover, transportation at CrowdFarming is carried out exclusively by land in order to save as many CO2 emissions as possible. This is because fruit is often transported by air freight, which is associated with a higher CO2 footprint. CrowdFarming now supports a total of 315 farmers in 8 countries.

Girls‘ und Boys‘-Days

The Girls’ Day – Girls’ Future Day and the Boys’ Day – Boys’ Future Day offer children and young people the opportunity to try out exciting apprenticeships or courses of study and to get in touch with future employers, to get to know new perspectives and areas of experience. The action days are the world’s largest career orientation offer, which both promotes the talents of schoolchildren and the idea of choosing a career and course of study free from role stereotypes. Pupils from year 5 onwards visit companies or universities, meet role models in professions that are still predominantly held by women or men and discover their individual strengths and talents.

trans-o-flex takes part in the Girls’ and Boys’ Days every year. Girls are mainly introduced to the male-dominated career fields in warehouse logistics and IT, while boys can get to know the areas of human resources management and marketing, for example.

Christmas parcel campaign

Many children around the world do not know the feeling of receiving their own present because they and their families live in extremely poor conditions. This is why trans-o-flex takes part in the annual Christmas parcel campaign run by the Kinderzukunft Foundation. The aim of this campaign is to bring a little joy to children in difficult life situations at Christmas. Every year during Advent, our employees at many locations collect lovingly packed Christmas parcels, which the foundation then takes to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Romania and, if possible, Ukraine. There they are distributed to children in orphanages, clinics, schools and kindergartens, but also in slums in towns and villages.

Read Aloud Day

Since 2004, the nationwide reading aloud day has been Germany’s largest reading aloud festival and a public sign to inspire children and adults about the importance of reading aloud every year on the third Friday in November, on a joint initiative by DIE ZEIT, Stiftung Lesen and Deutsche Bahn Stiftung. After all, reading aloud together not only connects and creates closeness, but is also the most important prerequisite for learning to read well, encourages children to discover the world with curiosity – and is the key to their future. This is why trans-o-flex employees regularly take part in the nationwide Read Aloud Day, for example to read to children in grades one to four at the Waldhofschule Mannheim, as they have done in the past.

Flower meadow

In order to use and design green spaces at trans-o-flex sites more sustainably, a start has been made on planting vacant areas and setting up bee colonies and insect hotels. This is another initiative within the framework of trans-o-flex’s ESG program. The aim is to contribute to biodiversity in this way. In addition, the sustainable green space design increases the quality of the workplace and makes it more attractive for employees to relax outside during their breaks.

Strahlemann Cup

The Strahlemann Foundation believes that every child has a talent and that all children deserve a perspective to find their place in society. Therefore, every child should be given the same opportunity for education so that they can shape their lives independently and in a self-determined way and have attractive opportunities for the future. In order to be able to offer these opportunities, the Strahlemann Foundation runs and supports educational projects that provide long-term and sustainable help.

As part of these projects, trans-o-flex took part in the Strahlemann Football Cup for the first time in 2023. This brings students and companies together in a unique way. It is about combining football games with a training fair. For the football tournament, a company and a school form a double team. That way, pupils and company representatives get to know each other in a relaxed atmosphere A training fair is also held in parallel to the matches.

Relief efforts

In the past, trans-o-flex has provided support during disasters and crisis situations such as the floods in the Ahr valley, the war in Ukraine or the earthquake in Turkey and Syria through a variety of aid campaigns. This included donations in kind and money as well as the provision of our own network and transport capacities. These enable us to bring relief supplies, medical supplies and donations to aid organizations and non-profit institutions quickly and efficiently to where they are most urgently needed. We coordinate relief efforts in close cooperation with our customers, partners and employees. We see it as our responsibility to act in solidarity and make a contribution in times of crisis.
