Environment and Responsibility in Logistics

Sustainability as a cornerstone of success: trans-o-flex embeds ESG holistically in the company

Our actions are characterized by the deep conviction that sustainability leads companies to long-term success. To achieve this, however, it must not just be a buzzword or a floating idea but must be firmly anchored in the company’s organization. Our aim is to work economically and at the same time in harmony with the interests of our employees, the environment and society.

ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) is about holistic, responsible corporate management. On one hand, this includes being profitable in the long term. At the same time, it is about good working conditions, using fewer resources in transportation and causing fewer emissions – in other words, making sure that we do not cut off the branch we are sitting on. We want and need to think and act this way today so as not to jeopardize the basis for our business tomorrow.

The ESG department was established in 2021 and reports directly to the CEO of trans-o-flex. The task of the ESG department is to embed sustainability holistically in the company and in all departments, to coordinate the various sustainability activities, to promote sustainable approaches in operations and to document the success of the commitment.

GEODIS Activity and sustainability report 2023

Our own sustainability strategy is closely linked to the goals and initiatives of our parent company. We focus on environmentally friendly technologies, responsible sourcing and innovative solutions to minimize our environmental footprint and make a positive contribution to society. The sustainability report shows how we, as part of the GEODIS Group, are participating in the global movement for greater sustainability and are continuously working to improve our processes and products.

The publication of the sustainability report is of great importance to us, as it not only highlights the efforts and successes of the entire GEODIS Group, but also underlines our commitment to sustainability. Transparency and a sense of responsibility are core values that we want to share and promote. By presenting this information, we want to inform our customers, partners and the public about our joint efforts and successes.

Three dimensions of sustainability

At trans-o-flex, we have also divided the sustainability department into three pillars: Environment, Social and Governance.

The environment part is concerned with reducing our emissions. Specific projects include the establishment of an environmental monitoring system and the implementation of an energy management system. The social area focuses on employees and aims to perceive them as individuals with their needs and wishes. It also includes the external perspective, i.e. the company’s social commitment. Specific projects include the establishment of a holistic approach to corporate citizenship and the topic of work-life integration, which includes the introduction of a company-wide health management system. The area of governance includes topics such as sustainable procurement, compliance and the further development of our corporate culture. We aim to integrate sustainability in every area.

In order to do justice to all three dimensions of sustainable development – economic, ecological and social – we regularly review our processes. For example, we ask ourselves whether our economic success also promotes and supports social progress, whether we always take sufficient account of the environmental impact of our business activities and whether our decisions are also compatible with the interests of our customers and employees in the long term. Decisions are not always free of conflicting objectives. However, our aim is to make these transparent and to find the best possible solution. Responsible use of natural resources, targeted investments in sustainable technology that enable profitable growth and offer our customers a competitive advantage, as well as corporate ethics that go beyond compliance with laws and regulations and focus on integrity – all of this forms the basis of our decisions and our actions.

Our contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals

On our path to greater sustainability, trans-o-flex uses and promotes the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations (UN). As part of its 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the UN agreed on a total of 17 goals for sustainable development in 2015. These 17 goals, with their 169 concrete targets, each address a global challenge. Achieving these goals will require extensive joint efforts and rapid innovation. trans-o-flex wants to contribute to this. Therefore, we focus on the nine SDGs on which we have the greatest influence. At the same time, focusing on these SDGs supports us on our way to greater sustainability by making it easier for us to categorize and prioritize projects.
