The teams at express service provider trans-o-flex and Avantor can look back on a partnership spanning some 5 decades in the field of logistics. To ensure that the cooperation will continue to prosper even beyond these 50 years, the logistics managers of Avantor meet regularly with the dedicated team that trans-o-flex has built up specifically for this customer. Most of these meetings take place at the Avantor site in Bruchsal, from where the customer feeds a large part of its consignments into the network of the express service provider.
Together, the partners then search, for instance during so-called Gemba Walks, for optimisation opportunities in the logistical processes. “This is about identifying and eliminating possible sources of error or also saving materials and costs, for instance by reducing the use of stretch film,” says Gunther Meyer, who looks after Avantor as Key Account Manager at trans-o-flex. “And as in any good relationship: it must be nurtured in order to flourish.”
