Just in time for the summer heat to increase the risk of high temperatures in the transport of goods, trans-o-flex was able to conclude an order for more Ambient trailers. A total of 55 new semi-trailers with pharmaceutical certification have been on the road in the trans-o-flex network since the end of April. With the expansion of its Ambient trailer fleet, which makes actively temperature-controlled shipments possible, trans-o-flex has achieved two goals: the flexibility in the network is increasing and the growing demand for GDP-compliant shipment processing is being taken into account.

The new trailers are two-axle refrigerated semi-trailers with roller shutters of the type Krone Cool Liner Pharma. Numerous data loggers are placed at precisely calculated positions within the vehicle superstructure to provide continuous measurement of the temperature and monitoring of the temperature distribution within the superstructure. “In order to comply with the pharmaceutical standard, we continue to rely on the proven technology of the Krone Pharma trailers, which have been in use since the start of the Ambient network,” says Michael Zorell. At trans-o-flex, he is responsible for the scheduled services division. The pharmaceutical standard has been certified by Pharmaserv, a service provider who specialises in this field. An example of the high standard is the double security in temperature data transmission. Normally, the trailer’s temperature data is transmitted to the trans-o-flex system via radio data transmission. Nevertheless, the thermal unit is connected to a printer. In the event of a fault in the data connection, this temperature recorder records the temperature during the entire journey and prevents gaps in the temperature history if the radio transmission fails.
