  • With the new three-year contract, the express delivery service is continuing the strategy it launched in 2007 of using electricity exclusively from renewable sources
  • GEODIS activities specialising in freight forwarding and contract logistics in Germany are also benefiting from the new agreement

Weinheim, 13 July 2026. The express service provider trans-o-flex, which specialises in the healthcare, cosmetics, consumer electronics and other sensitive goods sectors, has concluded a new three-year contract with the Mannheim-based energy supplier MVV Energie, for the supply of electricity until the end of 2028. MVV Energie guarantees that the electricity supplied will be generated entirely in renewable-energy plants. Compared with the CO₂ emissions linked with electricity sourced from the standard German energy mix, trans-o-flex will thus cut CO₂ emissions by a total of 17,709 tonnes. “The procurement of electricity from renewable sources forms a tried and tested element in our sustainability strategy and has reduced our environmental footprint for years,” points out trans-o-flex CEO Martin Reder.

The electricity supplied under this agreement is used by all the German trans-o-flex companies, including the sites of trans-o-flex Logistik-Service, which specialises in contract logistics, and the sites of trans-o-flex ThermoMed, which focuses on temperature-controlled shipments held at 2 to 8 degrees Celsius. In addition to trans-o-flex, other German GEODIS activities are benefiting from this contract for the first time. “With our own annual electricity procurement volume of around 16,000 megawatt hours, we were able to secure favourable conditions for renewable energy, making them attractive for GEODIS’s freight forwarding and contract logistics operations in Germany,” adds Reder. “At the same time, our long-standing energy partner MVV was attracted by the possibility of increasing the supply volume even further.”

trans-o-flex began switching its electricity supply to renewable energy sources back in 2007. The new three-year contract stipulates an annual delivery of 16,263 megawatt hours of electricity for trans-o-flex. According to the German Environment Agency, the average German power mix produced 363 grams of CO₂ per kilowatt hour in 2024. Set against this, trans-o-flex’s annual procurement of 16,263 MWh from renewables prevents more than 5,903 tonnes of CO₂ emissions. That is roughly equivalent to the average annual emissions caused by the electricity consumption of 11,000 people in Germany.
