Integrated warehousing and distribution concept implemented within three weeks

trans-o-flex Logistik-Service wins over Barme GmbH as a new customer - nationwide distribution of medical and care items from the central warehouse in Frechen near Cologne

Weinheim, 4th April 2011 - trans-o-flex Logistik-Service GmbH has won over the Barme Group as a new customer and has implemented a nationwide warehousing and distribution concept for the company, which specialises in advising and supplying companies in the medical and care sectors, in under one month. A central warehousing site in Frechen near Cologne was rented, equipped and customers' goods moved there from the former warehouse for the company headquartered in Staudt/Montabaur within three weeks of signing the agreement. Nationwide distribution of the products ranging from dressings through syringes and canulas to hygiene and cleaning products and disinfectants began straight away. In the two-shift operation, several hundreds of orders are commissioned and prepared for dispatch daily from the goods stored across 2500 square metres, up to 7.00 p.m. With the trans-o-flex express delivery service, more than 98 percent of consignments reach their recipients on the next working day with the standard service.
"We opted for a single source service and for trans-o-flex for quality reasons" says Juan Carlos Rodriguez, Managing Director of Barme GmbH. "With the rising pressure of competition in healthcare it is a matter of establishing and maintaining quality as a principle. It is clear that trans-o-flex shares this principle and is able to act quickly and as a holistic concept." trans-o-flex Logistik-Service operates four separate warehouses in Germany in addition to the one in Frechen and is set to establish at least one more warehouse this year.
"trans-o-flex receives many enquiries for integrated logistics services where, for example, web shop applications, warehousing, stock manipulation, display construction, display assembly and the procurement and distribution of the most varied products on pallets or as packages are required from a single source" says Holger Eberhard, the Logistics Service Sales Manager. "Our strengths here lie in the development and implementation of a solution that incorporates not only customers' requirements but also their existing facilities or software." For example, although trans-o-flex usually works with its own proprietary inventory control software or the I-Net-Order system developed for Internet connection of field service or end client orders, with the current Barme order, Barme's previous ERP system is being used at the customer's request. "The flexibility with which trans-o-flex considered our requirements was what convinced us" sums up Juan Carlos Rodriguez.
