Berlin-Chemie introduces active temperature control for all of its pharmaceutical products

Quality assurance: pharmaceutical researcher and manufacturer awards the product-specific transportation of its products at the two temperature ranges of between 2 and 8 °C and 15 and 25 °C to trans-o-flex ThermoMed
Weinheim, 29th November 2010 - This month, Berlin-Chemie AG introduced active temperature control for all of its pharmaceutical products. Within the scope of this top-value service, the company's entire distribution from its location in Genshagen to pharmacies and wholesalers all over Germany will be taken over by trans-o-flex ThermoMed, using its special vehicles and network of logistic centres. Depending on their nature and constitution, the products will from now on be transported at temperatures of between 2 and 8 °C or 15 and 25 °C.
"We, as a pharmaceutical researcher and manufacturer, give top priority to patient safety and, thus, the quality of our products", says Michael Krauser, Head of Logistics of Berlin-Chemie. "Therefore, we have introduced active temperature control in order to ensure top product quality also during the transportation and to comply with all and any legal provisions." Berlin-Chemie is the first company of those represented by the Association of Pharmaceutical Researchers and Manufacturers that has introduced this new technology for the transportation of its products. The company's logistic partner trans-o-flex ThermoMed operates a dense network in Germany, the Benelux countries and Austria that has been set up to reliably handle the actively temperature-controlled collection and delivery of products. In contrast to conventional temperature control, cooling elements or agents can now be dispensed with. Instead, the use of temperature controlled vehicles and warehouses makes it possible to achieve constant temperatures. And: the warehousing, transport and disposal of cooling elements or dry ice is no longer necessary. In addition to this, the package material and transport weight are reduced as well. Parallel to the transport documentation for each shipment, trans-o-flex ThermoMed also offers its customers to control their products' temperature status on-line at any time.
